The new trailer for “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” has been released and it’s safe to say the film seems like the perfect sequel to its predecessor from 2018. Jason Momoa returns as the iconic aquatic Justice member, leading the charge against a far more powerful and deadly Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), who seeks vengeance for his father’s death. Aquaman is preparing for the fight of his life while donning a new outfit due to the horrors of the mysterious black trident Manta wields.
We get a brief glimpse of Arthur Curry’s new purple and blue stealth outfit in the “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” trailer. We see him sneaking around on land while wearing it, using its cloaking ability to make himself invisible as he tries to free Orm (Patrick Wilson). While this may appear to be a Hollywood creation, it is actually based on DC Comics’ history. The title character in the 1986 “Aquaman” miniseries wears a blue stealth suit that allows him to swim across the water without being spotted. The outfit doesn’t stay long, however, it does briefly reemerge in “Aquaman: Deep Dives.”
Even though Aquaman has a new look in “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” his stealth suit is unlikely to be his main outfit in the film. The film’s trailer has more shots of his famous gold and green outfit than his purple and blue suit, which makes sense. Aquaman’s signature outfit is gold and green, therefore he’s wearing it in his second theatrical solo adventure. At the same time, just because the stealth suit isn’t the main suit doesn’t mean the people who designed it didn’t put in a lot of work.
