Behind her well-known comic timing and cheerful screen presence, Archana Puran Singh has navigated a demanding personal journey. In a recent conversation on her YouTube channel, the actor revisited the early years of her 33-year-long marriage with Parmeet Sethi, a period marked by uncertainty, financial pressure, and emotional conflict.
At the time, Archana was the family’s primary earner, taking on continuous work to ensure stability at home. She shared that her approach was simple then, never say no to work. That mindset, however, led her to accept projects she otherwise would have avoided, including films she now openly admits did not reflect her true potential. For her, survival came before creative satisfaction.
While Archana was managing household finances, Parmeet Sethi was still trying to establish himself as a leading actor. Being seven years younger, he felt his career was still in a formative stage and feared that one wrong decision could end his prospects in the industry. As a result, he chose to wait for meaningful roles rather than accept smaller opportunities.
Archana acknowledged that this phase created internal conflict. Though confident about earning, she later realised she had suppressed expectations shaped by what she had grown up seeing. Over time, she learned to accept the reality of their different career timelines and adapted by diversifying her own work moving into hosting, comedy, and supporting roles while maintaining her self-respect. Looking back, Archana credits that resilience and dignity for where she stands today.
