Army jawan killed in an encounter carried out at Pulwama, along with a terrorist

On Friday, a police official informed that an Indian Army soldier and a terrorist were gunned down during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The official further asserted that Joint security forces, including the personnel of the army, the Pulwama Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), cornered the terrorist in the Hanjin Rajpora area of the district.

An official also expressed to PTI that the Pulwama encounter witnessed a heavy firing from both the sides. He added that a soldier was injured in the initial exchange of firing with the militant and the jawan who was taken to the hospital, surrendered to his injuries.

As per reports, a search operation that was initiated in the area by joint security force triggered the gunfight. As far as the reports are concerned the search and cordon operation was directed on the grounds of input which suggested that several terrorist had taken a shelter at the Hanjin village in the Raipora area of the Pulwama district.

According to reports, as the security forces arrived at the suspected hideout to proceed with the search operation, the terrorist opened fire on them. The security forces in turn took the lead and retaliated with heavy gunfire. As yet, no causalities are reported, however it is assumed that three to four terrorist are trapped in the encounter.

On Thursday, in another encounter carried out in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, two terrorist are reported to be gunned down by the security forces. The Kashmir zone police informed that the terrorist are not yet identified. In the last six months, 61 terrorist were killed by security forces, as per reports.
