Arsenal makes an official bid for Norwich star Emiliano Buendia

Arsenal made their first formal offer to Norwich City for midfielder Emiliano Buendia on Wednesday.

The bid is believed to be in the region of £30million and inclusive of add-ons. Aston Villa, another Premier League side have also matched the offer in an attempt to secure the services of the midfielder at Villa Park. The attacking midfielder is currently away on international duty with Argentina. This happens to be the first time that Buendia has received a senior team call-up to the Argentinian national team.

Arsenal was previously interested in Buendia during the winter transfer window in December but was priced out of a move by Norwich, instead opting for Martin Odegaard who joined on a loan deal from Real Madrid. Buendia might consider both Villa and Arsenal as attractive options but Arsenal seems confident about landing the Argentinian playmaker.

Buendia’s former club Getafe in La Liga could receive 20 percent of any fee that Norwich accepts, because of a sell-on clause in his contract.

“One always dreams of being at the highest level and in the best teams in England, Spain or Europe,” Buendia told AS. “One dream of playing for titles, it is an ambition that I have, it is a pride that important clubs are interested in you, it means that you are doing things well and it is a motivation to continue working and one day achieve it.”

Buendia was named Championship Player of the Season after scoring fifteen goals and setting his teammates up with fifteen assists in the second tier of English football last season.
