Arsenal is likely to get fined after their victory against Premier League rivals Liverpool. According to reports, Arsenal will be fined for receiving an excessive amount of yellow cards during their 3-1 win against Liverpool.
Anthony Taylor, the match official, issued one red and seven yellow cards on February 4 at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal players received six yellow cards, and the club is expected to be fined about £25,000 for their indiscipline.
Three of Arsenal’s four starting defenders were booked by Anthony Taylor for various fouls during the match. These included Ben White, William Saliba, and Gabriel Magalhaes.
In the second half, Jakub Kiwior—who had come to replace full-back Oleksandr Zinchenko—was given a yellow card. Declan Rice and Kai Havertz were among the other players that the referee had also booked.
Among the Liverpool players, Ibrahima Konate was sent off in the 88th minute following his second booking of the evening, while Darwin Nunez was given a yellow card.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp stated there were several inconsistencies with referee Taylor’s decisions.
“This referee gave me a red card against Man City for the wrestling situation between Bernardo Silva and Mo Salah. Today, same situation with [Diogo] Jota but didn’t get a red card,” Klopp stated after the match.
