Arshad Warsi says Akshaye Khanna lives in his own world, unbothered by criticism

Akshaye Khanna has received significant recognition for his depiction of Rehman Dakait in Dhurandhar. Despite the fact that the film continues to dominate news, the actor has kept a low profile. Arshad Warsi, who costarred with Akshaye in the 2009 film Short Kut, has now remarked about the actor’s personality, describing him as a serious individual who is unconcerned about the opinions of people.

Arshad discussed Short Kut with Lallantop, stating that he had high expectations for the picture, but it did not live up to them. He said that a 1.5-hour segment of the picture, which he thought would be cut, was eventually kept, contributing to the film’s failure. When asked about his experience working with Akshaye, Arshad responded, “Akshaye is a very serious guy. Actor toh voh pehle se hi acha hai, there was never a doubt about that. But voh apni hi duniya main rehta hai.”

Arshad added, “He doesn’t care about you or anybody. Uska apna hai ki aapni zindagi hai, aap mere baarien main kya sochte ho nahi sochte ho voh meri problem nahi hai. Life jeeta hai aapne hisaab se (He believes that it’s his own life, and what you think or don’t think about him is not his problem. He lives life on his own terms), he doesn’t care about this PR and stuff, right from day one. He has been like this all his life.”

In addition to getting plaudits for his performance in Dhurandhar, Akshaye Khanna recently made headlines when Drishyam 3 producer Kumar Mangat Pathak claimed to have sent him a legal notice for leaving the picture barely 10 days before the filming, despite having signed an agreement. The producer claimed that Akshaye asked to wear a wig for the film, but the director respectfully declined because it would have disrupted continuity.

Kumar Mangat Pathak also criticized the actor’s alleged unprofessional conduct. Jaideep Ahlawat has subsequently replaced Akshaye Khanna in Drishyam 3, which is set to open in theaters on October 2, 2026. Meanwhile, Akshaye Khanna will next appear in Prasanth Varma’s Mahakali. The actor will take on the role of Asuraguru Shukracharya. The film is a part of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU), which debuted last year with Teja Sajja’s superhero feature Hanuman. Its sequel, Jai Hanuman, starring Rishab Shetty, is already in the works, while Mahakali, the franchise’s third superhero film, is focused on the Goddess Kali.
