Director of England’s men’s team Ashley Giles told that the centrally contracted players of England are likely to miss the remaining 2021 of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
“We decide to involve England players in England matches. we’ve got a full FTP schedule. So if they’re going ahead with the tour of Pakistan and Bangladesh, I hope players are going to be there.” ESPNcricinfo quoted Giles statement.
“New Zealand’s scenario was very different. All those contracts and NOC [No Objection Certificate] were signed for full participation within the IPL until those test matches were formalized at the top of January,” Giles added.
“None folks know what a rearranged IPL seems like at the moment; where or when it’s getting to happen. But since we start this summer against New Zealand, our schedule is incredibly busy. We have gotten tons of important, high-profile cricket, including the T20 World Cup and therefore the Ashes. and that we need to look out of our players,” Giles concluded.
English players like Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, Jonny Bairstow, and Moeen Ali all are currently serving their 10 day isolation period in government-approved hotels and could now be available for selection.
The BCCI is looking for the September window before the T20 World Cup to finish the league. English counties have come forward to help conduct the remainders of the Vivo IPL 2021. The IPL Governing Council (GC) and therefore the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unanimously decided to postpone the IPL 2021 session last week in an emergency meeting.
