Assi box office: Records mild drop, nets Rs 45 lakh on day 6

Assi box office: Records mild drop, nets Rs 45 lakh on day 6

Assi, directed by Anubhav Sinha and featuring Taapsee Pannu in the lead, had another decline on its first Wednesday. Though the drop is not significant, it comes from an already low figure, so it does not make any difference. According to estimates, the film grossed Rs. 45 lakh on Day 6, increasing its total to Rs. 5.60 crore nett at the Indian box office.

The courtroom drama, starring Kani Kusruti, Revathy, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, will battle The Kerala Story 2 this weekend. Because the film has received positive word-of-mouth, it should experience a boost on its second weekend.

One of the main reasons why the Taapsee Pannu film isn’t gaining traction is a lack of interest from the audience. The film featured low-key promotions, which hampered its box office potential. Furthermore, the public now considers such films to be OTT movies, as they have developed the patience to wait for their digital distribution.

The stakeholders must break this patience and extend the OTT window to about 6 months, or the small/mid-sized film business would die. Thappad, Anubhav Sinha’s earlier collaboration with Taapsee Pannu, debuted at Rs. 2.75 crore and grossed Rs. 13.50 crore nett in its first weekend. Thappad finally repaid its production costs and concluded its theatrical run at roughly Rs. 30 crore nett, which is a good result for a picture like this in today’s market.
