IFFI Goa 2023: Michael Douglas will be receiving the Satyajit Ray Excellence in Film Lifetime Award

The International Film Festival of India, which is set to take place in Panjim, Goa from 20 November to 28 November of this year, will present veteran Hollywood actor Michael Douglas with the esteemed Satyajit Ray Excellence in Film Lifetime Award. Anurag Thakur, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, made the declaration on Friday.

When Michael attended the Indian Pavilion during the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, he was actually invited to IFFI. His invitation came from L Murugan, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, who stated at the time, “We are holding our film festival in Goa from November 20 to November 28”. “It’s the 54th edition; please accept my greetings. I look forward to having you come to our event with your whole family. To Goa, we shall introduce our customs, variety, culture, languages, and culinary traditions”.

Anurag Thakur on his X account(formerly Twitter) on Friday, “I’m delighted to announce that Michael Douglas, the distinguished Hollywood Actor and Producer, will be honoured with the prestigious Satyajit Ray Excellence in Film Lifetime Award at the 54th International Film Festival Goa. His deep love for our country, 🇮🇳, is well known, and we look forward to welcome him, Catherine Zeta Jones and their son, to the most prominent Film Festival in South Asia to showcase our rich cinematic culture and unique traditions at #IFFI54!! A heartfelt welcome to Bharat and @IFFIGoa (namaste emoji).”

Michael was last seen in this year’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, a Marvel movie starring Peyton Reed. The film Blood Knot, directed by Roberto Sneider, will feature him next, costarring with his son Cameron Douglas.
