Atletico Madrid drop points Again, title race heats Up

Atletico Madrid went back to the top of La Liga, by only one point, after labouring to a draw against Real Betis. This result means Atletico have now picked up just one win in their last four league matches as the season enters its final stage with their advantage at the summit down to a single point.

Yannick Carrasco put Atletico ahead when he latched onto a loose ball and tapped home but Cristian Tello levelled with a cushioned finish. The match ended 1-1, even though Atletico were the better side.

Diego Simeone’s Atletico – who were 10 points clear at the end of January – have only won three of their past 11 games in all competitions and look to be running out of steam. Upcoming in the 35th gameweek, they play against FC Barcelona, which would be a title decider.

Considering, defending champions Real Madrid had gone top on Saturday after beating third-placed FC Barcelona 2-1 in the El Clasico. The current table looks like this:
