FC Barcelona were close to signing the Portuguese winger on loan in December 2022. However, Atletico pulled out of that deal and instead picked Chelsea as Felix’s preferred destination. This time, though, things may be different since, according to AS, the Rojiblanocs have given Felix permission to join their arch-rivals. Any agreement will include a purchase option as well, allowing Barcelona to sign him permanently at the end of his loan period.
Felix said in a recent interview with Fabrizio Romano that he would “love to play for Barca” and that the Liga champions have always been his “first choice” since it has been his “dream” to wear their jersey since he was a child. Barcelona president Joan Laporta would want to welcome him to Camp Nou and they have already calculated the costs of carrying out the procedure while keeping their poor economic condition in mind.
Felix has failed to find his footing under Diego Simeone, scoring 34 goals in 131 games for Atletico. His loan spell at Chelsea saw him score 4 goals in 20 Premier League games and he has been linked with a permanent transfer away from the Wanda Metropolitano, with Barcelona emerging as the favourites to sign the Portuguese winger.
