Australia Day and Republic Day: Coincidental natural partnership

26th of January marks a remarkable day of celebration for both Australia and India. While India celebrates its Republic Day, Australia celebrates its Foundation Day; a wonderful coincidence of history. Both the nations are guided by the same ideals of democracy, freedom and the rule of law.

India celebrates Republic Day to honor the date on which its Constitution came into effect. Australia, on the other hand, marks the beginning of the European settlement and the foundation of the modern Australian state. Both countries had been under British rule for more than eight decades.

The countries have worked together in the fields of defence, science, technology, commerce, maritime and cyber issue. This growing collaboration shows their shared values, capabilities and trust.

“Australia knows that, in India, we have a friend and natural partner who will help build a region where every nation can prosper”, PM Scott Morrison lauds PM Modi.
