Australian Open 2024: Rohan Bopanna-Matthew Ebden clinch Men’s Doubles title

In straight sets, Rohan Bopanna and Australian partner Matthew Ebden defeated Simone Bolleli and Andrea Vavasorri of Italy to win the Men’s Doubles title at the Australian Open.

The intense match lasted 1 hour and 39 minutes, during which the Indo-Australian duo won in two sets of 7-6, 7-5.

The Bopanna-Ebden duo took the opening game, winning the first game of the first set in straight serves. After that, the Italian duo of Bolelli-Vavassori flipped a switch and began competing.

What followed was a tightly contested set, with the two battling game-by-game, exchanging blows back and forth, with neither side able to pull away into a decisive lead, and the set going down to the wire at 6-6.

With the first set up for grab for both sides, Bopanna and Ebden went on an aggressive attack against the Italians, collecting seven straight points to win the first set 7-6 after 51 minutes of action.

The second set went similarly, with both pairs playing every game without conceding and maintaining a tight match that ended with a 5-5 draw.

The outcome was the same as in the first set as well, with Bopanna and Ebden destroying the Italians in the following two games straight to win the set 7-5 and secure the title.
