Ayan Mukerji Requests Privacy at Father Deb Mukherjee’s Prayer Meet

Filmmaker Ayan Mukerji hosted a prayer meet on Tuesday in memory of his late father, actor Deb Mukherjee. The private gathering was attended by close friends and family, including celebrities Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, and Aditya Roy Kapur.

Outside the venue, Ayan addressed the photographers, urging them to respect the family’s privacy. He acknowledged their concerns about the limited photo opportunities but requested cooperation, emphasizing the personal nature of the event. “It’s a prayer meet—it’s quite personal. If you feel you are not getting better shots, then I am sorry, but I think for us, this will be a better arrangement today,” Ayan said.

When a photographer suggested a designated space for capturing images, Ayan explained that the venue lacked the capacity for such arrangements. “There will be some shlokas inside. If there are too many photographers, it will get very noisy. So please understand a little bit for today,” he added.

Promising to share visuals later, Ayan requested the paparazzi to show empathy. “This is a very personal event for us. It’s not like Durga Puja. It’s very different for us today,” he concluded.

Deb Mukherjee, a celebrated actor and a prominent figure of the North Bombay Durga Puja celebrations, passed away on March 14 at the age of 83 after a prolonged illness. His last rites were held at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Juhu. The film fraternity and fans mourn the loss of the veteran actor, remembering his contributions to Indian cinema.
