Actor Ayesha Takia has shown support for her husband, Farhan Azmi, after he was booked by the Goa police for a public argument in North Goa’s Candolim area. The incident happened on Monday evening when Farhan, who was driving a luxury SUV, was stopped by some locals over rash driving. This led to a heated argument between them.
The Goa police registered a case against Farhan Azmi and two Goa residents under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. According to a police statement, the complaint was filed because the fight happened in a public place and disturbed public peace.
Ayesha Takia shared her side of the story on Instagram, saying that her husband and their son were “brutally bullied” and “feared for their lives.” She claimed that a large group of locals threatened and harassed them, even after her husband called the police for help. She also said that the crowd cursed Farhan and their son for being from Maharashtra and driving an expensive car.
Ayesha expressed her trust in India’s legal system and mentioned that they have video proof, including CCTV footage, which will be shared with the authorities. “We believe in the justice of the system and our Indian courts,” she wrote.
Ayesha Takia, famous for movies like Wanted and Taarzan: The Wonder Car, left the film industry in 2011. She married Farhan Azmi, a businessman and son of Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi, in 2009. They have a son named Mikail Azmi.
