Aymeric Laporte drops transfer hint during interview, with rumours of FC Barcelona being interested

Following a season of restricted game time under Pep Guardiola, Manchester City central defender Aymeric Laporte has given fans an intriguing clue about his future. Aymeric Laporte says he will see what happens after the Euro 2020 competition, dropping another indication about his future at Manchester City.

The Frenchman, who recently switched international allegiances to Spain ahead of the European Championships this summer, has been in and out of Manchester City’s starting XI during the 2020/2021 season.

The 27-year-old explained:

“It’s a very different challenge because I never played less than this year. For me it’s very different, that is difficult to accept.”

“It’s good. He [John Stones] was not playing during the last two years but he’s come back now. I’m happy for him to enjoy his football. I didn’t get benefits [from added competition in the team] because I played less, but it’s good,” he continued.

Aymeric Laporte is ‘not thrilled’ with the minutes he has played for Manchester City this season and is open to leaving. According to reports, Barcelona is a big fan of the player. If this is true, maybe we can see Laporte joining Eric Garcia with a move to the Blaugranas.

Manchester City is still connected with searches for central defenders, but despite Aymeric Laporte’s evident dissatisfaction with his playing time, a move for the Spain international is improbable in the upcoming summer window.

Do you think Laporte should move away from City? If so, would Barcelona will be the ideal destination for him?
