Riding high on the success of his latest release Thamma, Ayushmann Khurrana recently engaged with fans in an interactive AMA session on Instagram. The actor addressed questions, fulfilled requests, and delivered a witty response when a fan compared him to Avengers’ Captain America from Maddock’s horror comedy universe.
When asked, “How do you feel being the Captain America of MHCU?” Ayushmann replied, “Mat kar lala. Nahi chahiye hume bahar ki validation. No comparison, this is our desi universe. So Thamma is Thamma.” His response highlighted his pride in the film’s unique universe while keeping the tone light and engaging.
Ayushmann also reflected on Thamma’s success, sharing, “Neend acchi aarahi hai. Mtlb pehle bhi acchi aati thi ab aur acchi aa rahi hai. Thamma is very special for me. My first big film released on Diwali. Earlier, I just used to watch films on Diwali but this time I am showing a film on Diwali. The dream of a Chandigarh’s boy has been fulfilled.”
The film, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, is the fifth installment in Maddock’s horror comedy universe. It follows a journalist who, after encountering a mysterious woman, transforms into a vampiric creature called Betal and must save humanity from an ancient evil.
Ayushmann called MHCU “the best universe in Indian cinema” and hinted at exciting future expansions. Fans have responded enthusiastically, giving the film a ₹25 crore opening.
