Baahubali: The Epic advance booking crosses ₹10 crore; Prabhas film set for record-breaking re-release in India

This Friday, Baahubali: The Epic, a combined release of SS Rajamouli’s masterpieces Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017), will hit theaters. According to trade sources, the movie has already earned over ₹10 crore in pre-sales worldwide, surpassing both Mahesh Babu’s Khaleja and Vijay’s Ghilli re-release.

With pre-sales of ₹5 crore in India and ₹5 crore in North America, Baahubali: The Epic has already earned the largest opening for a re-release of an Indian film. Additionally, on its first day of release, it became the first Telugu re-release to earn ₹10 crore globally. It’s anticipated that the latest Baahubali movie will set records for Indian re-releases and perhaps set new ones globally.

For comparison, Vijay’s Ghilli is sometimes mentioned as the highest-grossing re-release, albeit there are differing claims on its opening day haul of either ₹7.9 or ₹10 crore globally. Mahesh Babu’s Khaleja earned ₹6.85 crore overseas, while Pawan Kalyan’s Gabbar Singh brought in ₹8 crore. With a total of almost ₹41 crore, Harshvardhan Rane’s Sanam Teri Kasam now holds the record for the greatest haul for a re-release.

The main cast of Baahubali: The Epic, which is directed by Rajamouli and produced by Arka Media Works, includes Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, and Tamannaah Bhatia. The movie is three hours and forty-five minutes long. The movie has been restored for a re-release and certain scenes have been cut out.

The movie is being re-released in more than 1150 theaters across the globe in addition to India. More than 400 theaters in the US, 210 in the UK and Ireland, more than 150 in the UAE and GCC, 144 in Australia and New Zealand, and more than 100 in Southeast Asia will screen Baahubali: The Epic.
