With great anticipation, SS Rajamouli’s remastered Baahubali The Epic reopened in theatres on October 31 and had a successful debut. Even after a week at the box office, the movie is unable to reach the ₹50 crore milestone.
Sacnilk reports that Baahubali The Epic made just ₹1.85 crore on its first Monday, a significant 70% decline. ₹1.95 crore on its first Tuesday and ₹1.55 crore on Wednesday came after this. The movie made just ₹1 crore on Thursday, which was its lowest total to date. Currently, the entire amount collected domestically is ₹30.70 crore.
The movie was predicted to make ₹50 crore in its first week of release, but it is now getting closer to becoming the highest-grossing re-release in India, surpassing Sohum Shah’s Tumbadd, which made ₹30.50, and Harshvardhan Rane’s Sanam Teri Kasam, which made ₹33.18 crore. When Rajamouli’s epic was released, it had already made history by having the largest opening for an Indian re-release.
The movie is an amalgam of Rajamouli’s popular films Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017). Alongside Anushka Shetty, Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj, Rana Daggubati, and Nassar in important roles, Prabhas plays two roles. Before going back into theatres, the re-release underwent a comprehensive remastering of both the audio and images.
