Baba-Ka-Dhaba owner attempts suicide, brought to hospital unconscious

The reports mention that Kanta Prasad was rushed to the hospital on the Thursday night after he overdosed on sleeping pills along with alcohol. The reports also claimed that the 80-year-old owner’s wife revealed the huge debt that the couple were suffering from.

On Thursday night the owner of Baba Ka Dhaba, Kanta Prasad, from South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area, allegedly attempted suicide and was admitted to the Safdarjung Hospital. The intake of alcohol and sleeping pills had been mentioned as the cause of his unconsciousness.

The police had identified the owner after a call was received from a PCR that a man had attempted suicide and was brought to the hospital.

The Baba Ka Dhaba owner, who had become famous overnight after his video went viral on the social media platforms, had shut down his restaurant after going through huge losses. After a six month fame, the old couple was back to the roadside eatery of Malviya Nagar in South Delhi, where they waited for customers.

The owner had shut down his restaurant in February due to the heavy losses. He had spent over Rs 5 lakhs for the opening of his new restaurant, and the monthly expenditure came around Rs 1 lakh, however the monthly sales never peaked above Rs 40,000.
