Leading to an elbow cramp that developed during the recently completed Asian Wrestling Championships in Almaty, India’s standout wrestler Bajrang Punia will miss a short training stint in Bulgaria.
In a recent exclusive interview with IANS, Punia said “I am feeling better. It is good to take a break and prepare for the main tournament in July”. The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) arranged a brief camp in Sofia, which is also hosting the World Olympic qualifiers, that will take place from May 6 to 9.
Punia has shared his unwillingness to practice in Bulgaria due to an unfortunate injury suffered in Almaty, according to a WFI official.
During the Asian Wrestling Championships, the Indian wrestler won his preliminary and semi-final battles in the men’s 65 kg freestyle event. However, he withdrew from the final against Takuto Otoguro of Japan and settled with a silver medal.
