Barcelona wants the Memphis Depay deal completed as soon as possible

Barcelona has been quite busy. Sergio Aguero, Eric Garcia, and Emerson have all been signed, with Joan Laporta also guaranteeing Ronald Koeman’s continuity and bringing Jordi Cruyff in. The club’s current ambition is to add one more free agent, Memphis Depay.

Within the next 48 hours, Barcelona might name Memphis Depay as the club’s fourth new signing of the summer transfer window. The Netherlands international has been linked with a move to Camp Nou for some time now, but it appears a deal could be finalized this week. The Catalans have offered a three-year contract and are eager to finalize the deal after missing out on midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum to Paris Saint-Germain.

Depay is present with the Dutch squad and has been in terrific form in their warm-up games, netting three goals in two games against Scotland and Georgia. The Netherlands will open its European Championship campaign against Ukraine on Sunday at the Amsterdam Arena.

The only thing standing in the way of Memphis joining Barcelona was uncertainty over Koeman’s future; now that that has been addressed, it’s only a matter of time before the transaction is completed. Everything has been negotiated, and the contract has been written; the only thing missing is the final signature and all the associated paperwork.
