BCCI releases T20I World Cup reward money to the Indian women’s side

Right before they departed to England tour earlier this week, the Indian women’s side gained a huge boost.

As the Times of India has reported, it is said that around eight-nine days back, BCCI, the chief cricketing body of the country finally released the reward amount for all the 15 members of the Indian women’s side who finished as the runners of 2020’s edition of the women’s T20I World Cup which was held in Australia. Adding to this, BCCI has also paid the dues for the team members who played the home series against South Africa which was played in the month of March this year.

“Once the player raised their invoices, we cleared their payment within a day or two. Thus, all the dues of the women’s team have been cleared,” a reliable source of the TOI has stated this.

After a story was featured in the UK’s Telegraph that the BCCI is yet to pay the dues for the Indian women who played for the country in the T20I world cup, BCCI had no choice and was forced into action as the story created a furore.

This is not the only instance where BCCI  made to news for delaying the pay for a  player. Earlier, during the 2019-2020 Indian domestic season, the cricketing body had made the news that the entire Jammu and Kashmir side including Irfan Pathan, who was their mentor, were yet to receive their remuneration.
