BCCI requests West Indies board to start CPL in advance

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is giving its best to convince Cricket West Indies (CWI) to start the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) early by a week or 10 days to ensure a seamless bubble to bubble transfer of players for the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) resumption in the UAE for upcoming September. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 14th edition of IPL had to be suspended midway while the BCCI on Saturday approved the resumption of the lucrative IPL in the UAE in the middle of September.

The CPL is scheduled to start on 28th August with the final to be played on September 19, on the other hand, IPL to be held from September 18 to October 10 which adds to the point that the players have been left with no time to settle down. A BCCI source reported to PTI on Sunday that they are still in talks with Cricket West Indies. The BCCI is hoping that if CPL can be finished a few days early it would help in the bubble-to-bubble transfer of all players to Dubai and in time to complete the mandatory three-day quarantine.

If the BCCI and CWI fail to reach an agreement over dates can lead some of the biggest players such as Kieren Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Jason Holder and Shimron Hetmeyer to miss the few matches or maybe the first half of the remainder of the IPL.
