BCCI seeking softer quarantine restrictions for Indian cricketers that will be traveling to England

The Indian National cricket teams (both men and women’s) are set to leave for England in the first week of June for their respective matches.

Before that, all the players will have to undergo a hard quarantine for two weeks in Mumbai, BCCI has arranged charter flights from three cities for both men and women cricketers to assemble in Mumbai. The players and staff that lives near Mumbai will be entering the bubble a week later. BCCI is in talks with ECB and UK government authorities to formulate the quarantine upon reaching England. BCCI is trying to get a soft quarantine where players are allowed to train. In Australia, the players underwent a hard quarantine for three days before they resumed training but they were not allowed to leave their hotel room, BCCI is hoping for the same in this case so that players can get some match practice.

The players will be picked by charter flights from Chennai, Hyderabad, and Delhi. Rest other players have asked for business class tickets and they’ll reach Mumbai via commercial flights. The men’s team will be playing in the World Test Championship that kicks off on June 18 and the women’s team is set to play England in a single test match from June 16.
