The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) grants the liberty for players to decide whether they want to take possession of the vaccination or not.
The government of India recently announced that the COVID-19 vaccine will open up for all citizens above the age of 18 and shall come in force from May 1. With this, ANI reported that sources from the BCCI have left the decision up-to the players. As the players who’re a part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) are aged between 18 and 45, making them eligible but the board chooses not to interfere with the individual outlook of each player in this affair.
The latest edition of IPL brings players, coaches and commentators from all over the world like South Africa, Australia, England and West Indies together in India.
India withstands its second wave of the global crisis peaking a whooping altitude with every passing day. As it recorded over 3 lakh COVID-19 cases for the sixth consecutive day in a row on Tuesday, many players are in a dilemma to consider opting out this season while a few Australian players have already opted out. Andrew Tye, right-arm bowler, playing for Rajasthan Royals this season stepped down since he feared a potential shutting of the borders. Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore this season have also withdrawn from the IPL. David Warner and Steve Smith still contemplate on the probability of returning home.
