Despite their divorce, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are committed to maintaining a positive relationship for the sake of their children. According to a source who spoke to Page Six, the ex-couple plans to remain involved in each other’s lives, even though they are no longer romantically involved. They are dedicated to co-parenting and communicating, especially when it comes to their children.
Affleck and Lopez’s relationship has a long history, dating back to 2000 when they first met on the set of Gigli. Their initial engagement in 2002 ended in 2004, partly due to public pressure, but they rekindled their romance in 2021 and married in 2022. However, Lopez filed for divorce in August 2023, marking the end of their second marriage.
Despite the split, the two still share mutual respect and remain connected, especially because of their children. Lopez and Affleck both have children from previous marriages: Affleck has three kids with ex-wife Jennifer Garner—Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel—while Lopez shares twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
Recently, the former couple was seen together at a school event in Los Angeles, where they were accompanied by Garner to support their kids. The event highlighted the amicable relationship they maintain in public and the sense of a blended family dynamic. Their kids attend the same school, and though they don’t have a formal co-parenting arrangement, they manage to navigate the situation with mutual respect.
In Lopez’s divorce filing, she requested the reinstatement of her maiden name but did not address asset division, as it was reported that there was no prenup in place. Court documents list April 26, 2024, as the official date of separation.
