Bengali TV actor threatens to suicide on Facebook live, saved by the police

Bengali television actor, Suvo Chakraborty threatened to commit suicide via Facebook live. He consumed sleeping pills and blamed his unemployment for compelling him to take this decision. The actor was jobless since past several months due to Covid pandemic and the ongoing lockdown.

On June 8, when he came live on Facebook and tried to commit suicide, one of the viewers immediately informed the police about the same. Police rushed to his house and saved him. He was then admitted to a hospital. Police informed that he was safe and out of danger.

The actor filmed a 10 minute long video and shared his feelings behind taking this step. He said, “I don’t know, jumping from the roof, cutting my hand, I don’t like all this. Finally, I found sleeping pills. Those who have high blood pressure have chances of getting a cardiac arrest.”

He consumed the pills and ended the live session. He captioned the post as, “I quit.”

The actor was in depression due to not getting any work and also due to financial instability. He lost his father few months back which also added to his anxiety.

The pandemic increased the unemployment rate in the country contributing to increase in depression. The country has lost several people from the entertainment industry this year, who committed suicide due to mental stress and anxiety.

Actor Suvo Chakraborty was well known for his work in the mythological drama, Mangal Chandi. Some of his other works include  Irabotir Chupkotha and Manasa.
