Bollywood actor Bhagyashree, who made her blockbuster debut opposite Salman Khan in Maine Pyaar Kiya (1989), has opened up about her bond with the superstar. The film’s success made them overnight stars, but soon after,
Bhagyashree stepped away from the industry to marry Himalaya Dasani.
In a conversation with Beauty By BiE, she recalled how Salman was always protective of her during the film’s shoot. “For me, Salman would be someone who always had my back. He was very protective. The kind of stardom that Salman has seen, I doubt any of the younger stars of today will be able to experience that kind of stardom, that kind of euphoria, which I think was similar to what it was like for Rajesh Khanna,” she said.
Her bond with Salman went beyond the film set. When her family objected to her marriage and she chose to wed Himalaya quietly, Salman stood by her side. “When I decided to get married, there was no one from my side, and Salman was there throughout and he was the last person to leave. That was very sweet, I did not expect that of him,” Bhagyashree shared, describing him as “a naughty boy, but very lovable.”
Now parents to Abhimanyu and Avantika Dasani, both actors, Bhagyashree and Himalaya continue to stay in the limelight. She will next be seen in Raja Shivaji, directed by Riteish Deshmukh, set for release in May 2026. Meanwhile, Salman is busy with Bigg Boss 19 and filming Battle of Galwan, based on the 2020 Galwan Valley conflict.
