Actor Bhumi Pednekar reflected on her journey in the film industry and her changing priorities while attending the International Film Festival Delhi (IFFD) 2026. Speaking on the sidelines of the event, the actor emphasised that staying authentic to one’s craft matters more than constantly chasing relevance.
Bhumi, who started her career as a casting assistant at Yash Raj Films, made a notable acting debut with Dum Laga Ke Haisha in 2015. Over the years, she has remained in the spotlight not just for her performances but also for her physical transformations, often undergoing weight changes for roles.
Addressing recent discussions around her weight loss, Bhumi explained that her focus has now shifted towards maintaining long-term health. She acknowledged that frequent weight fluctuations can take a toll on the body over time, especially as one grows older. As a result, she now places greater importance on fitness and well-being rather than altering her body for every role.
The actor also shared her perspective on the pressure of staying relevant in the industry, calling it short-lived and exhausting. Instead, she stressed the importance of consistent practice and self-improvement, urging artists to focus on nurturing their talent.
Speaking about IFFD, Bhumi praised the scale and organisation of the festival, noting that a city like Delhi deserved an international platform for cinema. She highlighted the strong turnout, discussions, and screenings, calling the inaugural edition a promising start.
