On Thursday, Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s father died of cancer (20th May 2021). Kiran Pal Singh, Kumar’s father, died in Meerut after a lengthy fight with cancer and liver diseases, according to reports. Singh, 63, was being treated at a Noida hospital but had recently returned to the family.
During his prime, he worked for the Uttar Pradesh Police, but he eventually chose voluntary retirement since his health was deteriorating. Bhuvneshwar, who is now in his hometown, was looking after his father and the grieving relatives when his father died from a combination of illnesses.
His father allegedly had chemotherapy in Noida, but his condition continued to deteriorate, so he was transported to a hospital in Meerut’s Ganga Nagar and eventually relocated to another hospital in Muzaffarnagar. His liver problems caused him to have jaundice, and he regrettably died today.
Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s name was absent from the list of players released earlier this month by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. India will go to the United Kingdom to compete in the inaugural World Test Championship final versus New Zealand, which will begin on June 18 at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.
The squad will next embark on a five-match Test series against England beginning on August 4th and expected to go until mid-September. While one group of Indian players is in England, another group will face Sri Lanka in a limited-overs series that will include three ODIs and as many T20Is, all of which will be played behind closed doors in Colombo.
Despite the fact that Bhuvneshwar Kumar was not part of India’s UK contingent, his inclusion in the team for the limited-overs trip to Sri Lanka is secured. Notably, Kumar has been out of play owing to injuries since December 2020. Earlier this year, he competed in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy before making a comeback against England in the home series.
Kumar also competed in the Indian Premier League, which was interrupted in the middle because of COVID-19-related difficulties. After this tragic situation, it remains to be seen if he will be available for the Sri Lanka visit.
