Biden and Putin meet for an anticipated summit

For a highly anticipated summit, US President Joe Biden and Russia’s Vladimir Putin arrived on Wednesday at the lush lakeside Swiss mansion. While appearing briefly before cameras along with Swiss President Guy Parmelin, the two leaders shook hands and were welcomed to Switzerland by Parmelin thereby entering the mansion for what is expected to be around four or five hours of talk.

For malicious cyberattacks by Russian based hackers on US interests, Biden has repeatedly called out Putin for the same. To argue that the US has no business lecturing on democratic norms and mentioning that the Russian government hasn’t been indulged in any of the said election interference or cyberattacks despite US intelligence showing otherwise, 6 insurrections at the US Capitol were done.

If stability and predictability are found in the relationship between the US and Russia then it was an important step as said by Joe Biden. He told the reporters earlier this week that it should be decided that where it’s in their mutual interest, to corporate, in the interest of the world and they shall see if it could be done.

Several hours before the summit Peskov said that it is already an achievement that the two presidents agreed to meet and finally start to speak openly about the problems. The arrangements made for the meeting were vigorously negotiated and carefully choreographed by both sides. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov were to join Biden and Putin who were expected to first hold a relatively intimate meeting.
