Sunday, May 16: India’s Tejaswin Shankar secured a gold medal in the high jump at the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Manhattan, USA. Delhi-based jumper recorded his best jump of 2.28m to win the gold medal this season.
Tejaswin Shankar won this outdoor High Jump title for the second consecutive time. Other than that, Vernon Turner from the University of Oklahoma and Jequan Hogan from the Texas Tech University grabbed the silver and bronze with jumps of 2.25m and 2.11m respectively in the same outdoor High Jump.
The event of the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships could not be held in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. After getting a scholarship, Tejaswin joined the Kansas State University to pursue business administration and he has been in the US since 2017.
