Binny and Family trailer out; Varun Dhawan’s niece Anjini Dhawan makes her Bollywood debut

Varun Dhawan’s niece, Anjini Dhawan, is preparing to make her Bollywood debut with the coming-of-age film Binny and Family. The trailer for the film about the generation gap has finally been released. It shows Anjini’s character at conflicts with her grandfather, played by Pankaj Kapur. The teaser also makes a subtle nod to Karan Johar’s classic Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.

On August 30, 2024, the trailer for the upcoming film Binny and Family was released on social media platforms. The two-minute, 39-second teaser begins with an allusion to Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. A voiceover adds, “It’s all about loving your grandparents,” which is similar to the tagline “It’s all about loving your parents” from the Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol film K3G.

The caption of the trailer reads, “Binny, a conflicted, punk, and rebellious teenage girl living in London, and her conservative grandfather from a small town in Bihar, are as different as chalk and cheese. However, a dramatic incident in their lives brings them together. Can they become friends and make a difference in each other’s lives?”

Anjini Dhawan is presented as Binny, a young girl who prefers to live her life on her own terms. Pankaj Kapur and Himani Shivpuri play her grandparents, who visit her parents and move in. Their generations’ differing mentalities have resulted in an evident clash.

Binny and Family also stars Rajesh Kumar and Charu Shankar. It is a partnership of Balaji Telefilms, Mahaveer Jain Films, and Waveband Productions, as well as Shashank Khaitan and Mrighdeep Lamba. The film was written and directed by Ssanjay Tripaathy. Binny and Family is scheduled to open in theatres on September 20, 2024.
