BJP picks Bhajan Lal Sharma as new chief minister of Rajasthan

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stated on Tuesday that Bhajan Lal Sharma will be the new Chief Minister of Rajasthan. He won the Sanganer assembly seat in the recently concluded elections, defeating Congress’ Pushpendra Bhardwaj by over 48,081 votes.

Bhajan Lal Sharma was named Chief Minister of Rajasthan by BJP’s Vasundhara Raje, whose name was also among those contenders for the position.

Other contenders for the CM office in Rajasthan were Gajendra Shekhawat, Mahant Balaknath, Diya Kumari, Anita Bhadel, Manju Baghmar and Arjun Ram Meghwal.

Diya Kumari and Premchand Bairwa have also been appointed as Bhajnlal Sharma’s two deputies.

The Speaker will be MLA Vasudev Devnani. He comes from Ajmer and was previously the state Education Minister.

Who is Bhajan Lal Sharma?

Bhajan Lal Sharma’s political career in Rajasthan has been defined by significant accomplishments. He has served as the BJP’s State General Secretary four times.

He won the Sanganer assembly seat by a large margin, getting 145,162 votes against Pushpendra Bhardwaj’s 97,081 votes of the Indian National Congress (INC).

He is a first time MLA and has been associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
