Blake Lively is taking significant legal action to uncover the truth behind the controversy surrounding It Ends With Us. In response to Justin Baldoni’s claims, Lively has subpoenaed major cell carriers—AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon—along with social media strategist Jed Wallace. The subpoenas are aimed at obtaining records that could shed light on an alleged smear campaign against Lively, which her legal team believes was orchestrated to damage her reputation.
Lively’s attorneys, Esra Hudson and Michael Gottlieb, argue that the subpoenaed records will provide concrete evidence revealing those responsible for the smear campaign. However, Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, dismissed the subpoenas as a “fishing expedition” and criticized the request for extensive data spanning over two years, including call, text, and location records. Freedman maintains that Lively’s claims are baseless and that she will not find any evidence to support her allegations.
At the center of Lively’s accusations is the claim that Baldoni and his PR team, led by Melissa Nathan, masterminded the smear campaign. Lively’s team asserts that Wallace was hired to manipulate public perception, with the aim of diverting attention away from sexual harassment allegations against Baldoni. Messages allegedly exchanged within Baldoni’s team suggest they were aware of and may have benefited from this strategy.
Meanwhile, Wallace has filed a $7 million defamation lawsuit against Lively, further complicating the legal battle. Both sides are amending their complaints and making contradictory statements, adding to the intensity of the dispute.
In addition to Wallace’s lawsuit, Baldoni is pursuing a $400 million defamation case against Lively and Ryan Reynolds, escalating the legal fight. With a trial scheduled for March 29, 2026, the battle for truth and accountability is set to continue, with both sides preparing for a high-stakes courtroom showdown.
