Blocking accounts will go against the principle of freedom of speech & expression, Twitter to Indian government

On Feb 10, Twitter released a statement saying that it has not taken any action on the accounts of many as per demanded by Central government which believed that the tweets were in violation and spread false propaganda.

But according to Twitter it believes that the step would violate fundamental rights of free expression of speech under Indian Law and it’s own principle of defending freedom of expression.

Twitter is currently facing backlash from Indian government after the violence of Republic Day in Delhi as the Central government asked it to block accounts which are related to the ongoing Indian farmers protest as these accounts are still available outside of India.

Twitter is doing all that it can to help maintain the right of free expression but within its guidelines which do not hurt any religious, personal sentiments and provoke hate speech and violence.
