BMC and government vaccination centers in Mumbai remain closed today

Brihanmumbai Municipal corporation on Wednesday informed that the COVID-19 inoculation drive in Mumbai will remain suspended on Thursday at the centres run by BMC and the Maharashtra government. BMC through its official twitter handle tweeted, “Dear Mumbaikars, Please note that all BMC and government vaccination centres will be closed tomorrow (July 1, 2021). We apologize for the inconvenience.”

The major reason behind the suspension of COVID-19 inoculation drive in Mumbai, is the unavailability of the required COVID-19 vaccines. The Civic body affirmed that the vaccination drive will recommence after they receive a fresh stock of vaccines.

BMC asserted that the citizens of Mumbai are being constantly informed about the vaccination. It further added that an appropriate decision is taken, depending upon the extent to which the stock of vaccine is received.

As per the BMC, 54,35,731 citizens have been vaccinated in the Metropolis as yet. Among these 10,72,578 individuals have received the second dose as well, it added.

The Civic body confirmed that on Wednesday, 63,579 citizens received the jabs among whom 20,259 received the second dose. At present, there are around 399 active COVID-19 vaccination centres in Mumbai, among which 281 is operated by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 20 are government run centre and the remaining 98 are the private centres.
