Animal, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s most recent movie, has caused controversy in the film industry. The film has been a massive hit at the box office, with key characters played by Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, Triptii Dimri and Anil Kapoor.
True to Vanga’s signature style, the movie not only became a huge success but also sparked controversy, mainly because of scenes that made some audience members uncomfortable. Interestingly, Bobby Deol, who portrayed the antagonist Abrar in a brief 15-minute role, said that he never considered himself as the film’s villain.
Bobby Deol opened up about his character in Animal in a new interview with Zoom Entertainment. He said, “I didn’t look at myself as a villain in the film because Abrar loses his grandfather in front of his eyes, who burns himself, and that shock takes away his voice. So, he swears that he’ll avenge his grandfather’s death, and he’s a very family-oriented man. He’s romantic.”
The actor also added that his character has three wives and is very protective of his family, willing to go to any extent for them. This perspective drove his portrayal of the character, aiming to evoke empathy for a person who, despite being called the antagonist, had deeply rooted motives for his actions.
Bobby recalled a scene from a fight sequence in which even Ranbir Kapoor said, ‘We don’t know who to sympathize with.’
