Boney Kapoor recalls Ranbir Kapoor’s patience during Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar shoot

Producer Boney Kapoor recently opened up about his experience working with Ranbir Kapoor on the 2023 romantic drama Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. The film, directed by Luv Ranjan, not only marked Boney’s acting debut but also gave him a chance to witness Ranbir’s discipline up close.

Speaking on Game Changers with Komal Nahta, Boney shared that Ranbir stood out for his patience and humility on set. “Ranbir Kapoor is one actor I never saw cribbing. We have shot for 16 hours at a stretch. We were shooting in Delhi in the summer. We switched the schedule, instead of shooting in the day, we shot at night, 9 to 6 in the morning. He didn’t complain even for a second,” he said.

The producer went on to recall a moment that highlighted Ranbir’s dedication. “I remember he gave 52 retakes for a scene. He gave full respect to the crew, despite having to give retakes for various reasons. In fact, when I gave 13-14 retakes for a shot, I was a little flustered. He came to me and said, till the director is not satisfied, you’ve got to give it all. And his patience…he was a pleasure on the set,” Boney added.

Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar starred Shraddha Kapoor alongside Ranbir, with Dimple Kapadia and Anubhav Singh Bassi in key roles. After this, Ranbir was seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s blockbuster Animal. He is currently shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War with Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, as well as Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious Ramayana with Sai Pallavi and Yash.
