On its third Friday, De De Pyaar De 2 hopes to record a 25% decrease and earn Rs. 95 lakh. The third week of the film began with a confrontation between Gustaakh Ishq and Tere Ishk Mein. For the first time in its theatrical run, the film has made less than Rs. 1 crore. Even so, a buy one, get one deal was in effect today.
Today’s decrease would have been substantially larger if there had been no offer. De De Pyaar De 2’s running total has reached Rs. 65.30 crore net, of which Rs. 47.75 crore came from the first week and about Rs. 16.60 crore from the second. The romantic comedy drama, which was directed by Anshul Sharma, should have done better, but after an already poor start, audience word-of-mouth caused a dent in its box office performance.
At the box office, the Ajay Devgn film is currently nearing the end of its run. With the release of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar on Friday, it is expected to complete its theatrical run at about Rs. 70 crore net, based on current patterns. De De Pyaar De 2, which stars Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh in the key roles along with R Madhavan, Gautami Kapoor, Meezaan Jafri, Jaaved Jaaferi, and others, will not go as long as its predecessor.
De De Pyaar De 2 can take solace in the fact that it is outperforming the genre’s most recent releases. However, since the harm has already been done, that won’t help it alter its box office destiny. After Son of Sardaar 2, De De Pyaar De 2 will prove to be Ajay Devgn’s second consecutive failure this year.
