Mahavatar Narsimha and Saiyaara are back-to-back hits, and the box office is gleaming in all its brilliance. However, the two films’ successful runs have also sparked a battle for nationwide distribution. “Saiyaara is doing well at the box office, and exhibitors are not willing to let go of the romantic saga in the third week too,” said PVRInox, the distributors of Son of Sardaar 2, as Ajay Devgn makes a comeback to the big screen with Son of Sardaar 2.
Additionally, Mahavatar Narsimha is starting to pick up steam, and due to audience demand, the movie’s showcasing has increased, according to a trade source. The insider went on to say, “As a comedy movie from a franchise starring Ajay Devgn, PVRInox is requesting 60% of the total showcasing, but exhibitors are only willing to give up to 35% of shows at their properties.”
Non-national chains are willing to give Son of Sardaar 2 no more than 35% of the shows, even if some single screens have consented to two shows per day. PVRInox is furious about this and is fighting to get additional shows.
It’s interesting to note that Saiyaara and Mahavatar Narsimha are being given preference in the current showcasing strategy for both single screens and non-national chains. With over 1000 screens on the first day of release, the Dhadak 2 team is working hard.
They want content that is strategically released on 1000 screens, primarily targeting metropolitan audiences, rather than a broad distribution. It’s a tactic that team Dharma used with Kesari 2, and if the word-of-mouth works in their favor, they hope to increase the number of shows they do over the weekend.
The problem is with Son of Sardaar 2, a larger movie that is intended to be released on more than 3500 screens, but the situation may limit it to 2500 screens with sporadic showings,” the person revealed. The current suggested allocation for the four-screen property is as follows: six Son of Sardaar shows, five Saiyaara performances, four Dhadak shows, three Mahavatar Narsimha shows, and the remaining amount for the other holdover releases.
In contrast, the three screen properties have suggested exhibiting five Son of Sardaar episodes, four Saiyaara shows, three Dhadak 2 shows, and the remaining Mahavatar Narsimha shows. Conversely, the single screens have suggested two Son of Sardaar 2 shows, two Saiyaara shows, and one Mahavatar Narsimha show.
According to the report, “PVR Pictures has demanded four shows from some single screen owners who have decided to forego Son of Sardaar 2 for the holdover releases – Saiyaara and Mahavatar Narsimha.” Surprisingly, given the high audience demand, several single-screen owners are willing to keep Saiyaara running on all four shows during the third week.
All of the centers are still negotiating, and by Thursday morning, a comprehensive picture of the show sharing ratios will be ready. Things will get clearer from here, so keep checking Pinkvilla for more updates.
