With “namaskar and dhanyawad”, the Indian equivalent of hello and thanks, Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro took to Twitter to laud Prime Minister Narendra Modi for timely export of COVID-19 vaccines. Mr. Bolsonaro said that the country feels honored to have a great partner to overcome the global obstacle of health crisis.

The shipment of two million doses of Covidshield, the Indian variant of Oxford-Astra Zeneca vaccine to fight the deadly Coronavirus, was dispatched from Mumbai on January 22nd. External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar confirmed the arrival of the vaccines.

Morrocco is also set to receive two million doses of the same vaccine dispatched from Mumbai.

Covidshield vaccine is manufactured by the Pune-based Serum Institute of India which was approved earlier this month. Two million doses to Brazil were carried via Emirates Sky Cargo and to Morocco on Royal Air Maroc.
