Breaking: Bayern Munich and Julian Nagelsmann reach agreement

With Bayern Munich currently on a two-week break from football, the club’s coaching situation has suddenly become the hottest topic in the German media.

After it was recently revealed that Julian Nagelsmann had requested that his contract with RB Leipzig be terminated, we can now confirm that the 33-year-old coaching prodigy has agreed to take over at Bayern Munich this summer.

Bayern appear to need a new coach because treble-winning Hansi Flick has asked to be released from his contract. His deal with the Bavarians runs until 2023, and a decision to terminate it early could be made this week.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge wants a speedy resolution to the matter and confirmed it had been agreed talks would take place this week. Flick is a candidate to replace Germany coach Joachim Low, who will leave his position after Euro 2020 in summer.

An agreement between Bayern and Nagelsmann means nothing if the Bavarians can’t persuade Leipzig to release him. According to reports, Nagelsmann’s employers are willing to play hardball, demanding 30 million euros to release their coach. Things could start happening quickly at Bayern Munch.
Leipzig trail leaders Bayern by seven points with three games remaining in the Bundesliga, with Bayern closing in on a ninth consecutive title. Leipzig is in the semi-finals of the German Cup, where they will face Werder Bremen on Friday.
