Brent Crude Briefly Tops $117 as Hormuz Attacks Continue; Trump Warns Iran

Brent crude briefly passed $117 a barrel on Friday, its highest in the Iran war, CBS News reported. Prices were under $97 at the start of October and about $112 on Thursday.

The IRGC has claimed hits on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, which President Donald Trump disputed, saying Iran is faking ship hits to push up oil prices before the US midterms. Euronews reported that an oil spill from a tanker attack closed beaches in the UAE’s Umm Al Quwain.

Saudi Aramco’s chief executive said East-West pipeline flows rose from 2 million to 7 million barrels per day. The claims about the tanker hits are Iranian claims and are not independently confirmed.
