Swansea was beaten by the underdogs, Brentford in the playoffs of the premier league promotion. Brentford scored 2 goals through Ivan Toney And Emiliano Marcondes to help the bees to enter the top tier of English football in a very long time.
The West London side will be returning to the English top division for the first time since the 1946-47 season. The side managed to reach the final of the qualifiers in the last season as well but was beaten by Fulham in the final who went on to play in the Premier League, but Thomas Franks side again reached the finals by finishing third this season and beating Bournemouth in the semifinals of the playoffs to secure a tie with Swansea which they won and now will be playing in one of the hardest leagues in the World.
Brentford took a 2-0 lead inside 20 mins and held the scoreline until the end to win the tie. Jay Fulton from Swansea received a red card when he made a challenge on a Brentford player and made the situation of Swansea tighter as they were two goals down in the 65th minute.
Brentford will also receive a hefty amount of prize money that amounts to $331 million for securing a place in the Premier League.
