Brie Larson gives blunt response about her MCU future following The Marvels flop

Brie Larson was the first actress to be cast in a solo superhero project within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, therefore the debut of Captain Marvel was greatly anticipated. In any case, the character received mixed reviews upon her debut, and her last appearance in Ms Marvel was strongly criticized. The MCU film was almost doomed from the start and even Larson’s comeback as Captain Marvel couldn’t save it.

Although Brie Larson’s future in the MCU remains uncertain, the previously released The Marvels failed to do well in theatres. It doesn’t seem likely that The Marvels will get a direct sequel either, but even if it doesn’t, Larson might play Captain Marvel again in future MCU projects.

Larson was asked by Extra about her potential return to the MCU at the SAG Awards, but she declined to provide an exact answer regarding what may happen to her character in the future. When asked what’s next for her and the MCU, the actress responded, “I don’t have anything to say about that.”

Meanwhile, the makers have not confirmed the Marvel character’s future. However, it seems doubtful that Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel would play a significant role in the film in the future given the poor response the last release had and the new direction the Marvel Studios is taking to introduce new characters.
