Bullet train project: L&T- IHI Infrastructure bags ₹1,390 crore contract for steel bridges

Indian construction major Larsen and Toubro and its consortium company IHI Infrastructure Systems, Japan has secured the ₹1,390 crore contract for procurement and fabrication of 28 steel bridges (Superstructure) for the Bullet train. The contract is awarded for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor(MAHSR), the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited(NHSRCL) said.

NHSRCL said, “Indian steel manufactures will be providing quality steel for the fabrication of superstructures for these steel bridges. The NHSRCL has already sensitized the Indian steel industries to cater to such a huge demand for India’s first high-speed rail corridor.”

An estimate of 70,000MT of steel will be used for the fabrication of the bridges. NHSRCL has been awarded civil contracts for the construction of 64 percent of the MAHSR which includes 5 HSR stations, a train depot at Surat, and a 350 metre mountain tunnel.
