The Conference of All India Traders (CAIT) has asked the Centre to ban Amazon Inc services in India because of a Reuters report talking about problems in the company.
They have claimed based on the report that the e-retailer has been favouring certain sellers in India over others. The Reuters report showed that the company has been trying to avoid new restrictions from 2012 to 2019. CAIT has issued a statement that “the shocking revelations” are “sufficient enough to immediately ban operations of Amazon in India.” Amazon criticised the report released by Reuters by tweeting and calling the information “unsubstantiated, incorrect, factually incorrect” and also said, “Amazon remains compliant with Indian laws.”
The report mentioned that Amazon favoured certain sellers and gave them discounts. Amazon claims that all sellers on their platform work independently. CAIT supposedly represents over 80 million retail stores across India.
