The ball-tampering scandal that happened in 2018 in Cape Town caused major chaos in the Cricket world. Cameron Bancroft, Steven Smith, and David Warner were banned from cricket for a period of 9 months and 1 year. Cricket Australia faced a lot of criticism from the mainstream media after that event.
But Cameron Bancroft’s recent comment has raised suspicions about how the situation was handled by CA and did they try to hide some very important facts. “They needed to do a more thorough investigation to work out where the root of the problem was,” he said.
CA integrity unit also reached out to Bancroft to extract more information about the event, the unit is headed by Rebecca Murray. They will be talking to him and asking to increase the horizon of the investigation and if he wants to add some facts, he can help the committee through his information.
Michael Clarke had also talked earlier to Sky Sports Radio and said that “If you know anything about cricket, you know on that day, on that field, what went down, more than three people had to know about it. ”
Adam Gilchrist also talked about this incident earlier with SEN Radio and said ” Anyone would be naive to think people were not aware with what was going on about ball maintenance. I don’t think Cricket Australia wanted to go there “
This whole situation has raised suspicion over the committee of Cricket Australia that was set up to investigate the case and how they have tried to manipulate the facts that were available at that time, this situation needs to be clarified as soon as possible.
